My name is Susan Shonk and I love to cook. But, I didn’t really start to cook until I was a bit older. I grew up watching Julia Child and the other Chefs on PBS, but didn’t really take an interest in creative cooking until I was in my early 30’s. I had always cooked, but didn’t venture much outside of what the family staples were. We had a pretty well standardized group of foods when I was growing up: meatloaf, baked potatoes and California blend veggies, pot roast, potted chicken, lasagna, New England boiled dinner; “take-out” fried clams from The Clam Box in Revere, or a roast beef sandwich from Kelly’s on Revere Beach or Bill & Bobs; and a few other items.
